LOS ANGELES, Calif. - June 22, 2017 - Angel City Games, the leading adaptive sports festival in the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, returns this year with its 3rd annual event at UCLA over the June 22nd-25th weekend. This year's Games will offer exciting new elements, such as five adaptive sports competitions, its best Celebrity Basketball Game yet, its first-ever Charity Fun Run & Roll, five amazing Sports Clinics, its first-ever Great Games Family Cookout Event, and an expanded Fun Zone for kids.

The Angel City Games kicks off on Day 3 of LA 2024's #FollowTheSun to Olympic Agenda 2020, a campaign to highlight how LA 2024 can contribute to the IOC's strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement. LA 2024 is an official Angel City Games partner, providing volunteer services and promotional support. The collaboration with LA's leading annual adaptive sport event aligns with Olympic Agenda 2020's Recommendation 7, calling for stronger relationships with organizations managing sport for people with different abilities.

The Angel City Games are sanctioned by Adaptive Sports USA. Launched in 2015, this annual celebration of adaptive and Paralympic sport serves hundreds of adaptive athletes native to the Los Angeles area, in addition to the multitudes of participants who travel from all over the country and abroad to join in each year. Participants include beginner to elite adults, military veterans, active duty military personnel, and children. Hollywood celebs Adam Sandler and Christian Bale have been on-hand in previous years to support the athletes along with many pro athletes, Olympians, Paralympians, and UCLA sports alumni.

Angel City Games is an inclusive competition open to athletes of all skill levels who have physical or visual impairments. These include, but are not limited to: Amputation, spinal cord injury, paraplegia, quadriplegia, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, blindness or visual impairment, TBI or head injury, stroke, muscular dystrophy, neuromuscular/orthopedic conditions, limb difference, brachial plexus, dwarfism or short stature. Further, the venues at UCLA offer athletes a unique opportunity to compete and learn at world-class facilities, where they can participate in clinics to learn and hone their skills, then engage in competition to challenge themselves against other athletes.

"Our goal from day one has been to create a place where people with physical disabilities can be active, connect with the community and showcase what they can do at the court, field, pool or track," said Clayton Frech, founder of Angel City Sports. "In just three short years we've built the Angel City Games into a premiere adaptive sports event in SoCal and we look forward to welcoming athletes from all over the country to celebrate adaptive sports and what's possible for anyone with a physical disability."
