LA 2024 to unveil International Sports Federation Commitment Plan at SportAccord Convention
Plan designed to guarantee closest ever collaboration with IFs, top-class sports presentation and US market growth
Aarhus, Denmark - In its presentation to the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations [IFs] today, LA 2024 will unveil its IF Commitment Plan: a set of policies designed to give International Federations a greater role in Games planning and presentation and maximum benefits from the $250 billion US sports marketplace.
The IF Commitment Plan is headlined by two brand new initiatives - the LA 2024 Sports Ambassador Program and an Annual IF Development Forum. The LA 2024 Sports Ambassador Program will see LA 2024 appoint experts and established leaders in the marketing, presentation and promotion of live sporting events to consult with every IF. LA 2024 Sports Ambassadors will ensure that the best elements of California’s innovative sports, creative, media and tech industries are applied to every sport and fully integrated into the Games planning process.
The LA 2024 Sports Ambassador Program is the first of its kind and would help grow the exposure, reach, participation and popularity of all Olympic and Paralympic sports. It aims to help each IF tap into the United States' $250 billion sports market - the largest in the world - connecting with 100 million young Americans and the next generation of fans around the world.
LA 2024’s proposed Annual IF Development Forum would assist all IFs in preparing for the LA 2024 Games. Open to both Summer and Winter IFs, the program would include Games workshops in which each sport can share opportunities and objectives for the LA Games, along with tailored sessions with leaders in sports presentation, marketing and new media to support the growth of every Olympic and Paralympic sport in the US.
In addition to the two new programs, LA 2024 will also today make a commitment to:
—Integrate every IF in a seven-year collaborative effort to create Venue Operating Plans, select the Event Director and support teams, and develop an optimized Test Event program.
—Establish partnerships with America’s most creative sports minds to assist every sport’s presentation and promotion.
—Deliver authentic, inclusive multi-sport experiences through the four LA 2024 Sports Parks, each designed to enhance ticketing, marketing and the festival atmosphere within a single secure perimeter.
—Accommodate International Technical Officials and National Technical Officials within a ten-minute shuttle ride of their venue, if not within walking distance.
—Provide training onsite at the Village for 51% of Olympians and 62% of Paralympians, with the remainder at their competition venues.
—An Organizing Committee budget for regular IF visits and freight grants for specific sports.
—Give every single Olympian and Paralympian two free tickets for each of their competitions, for the first time ever.
