PyeongChang Day to Celebrate "Four Years to Go" to the opening of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games

SOCHI - The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) will host a special PyeongChang Day event to mark the opening of PyeongChang House and to celebrate "Four Years to Go" until the Games in PyeongChang, which will be staged for 17 days starting 9 February 2018.

The one-hour event will take place in PyeongChang House, located inside the Sochi Olympic Park, from 4 p.m. on Sunday, 9 February 2014. A reception will be held at 15:40.
The venue will showcase the highlights of the host city and the Republic of Korea at PyeongChang House, located just near the footbridge leading up to the center of the Sochi Olympic Park.

Those invited include Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), POCOG President Kim Jin-sun, Chairman of the IOC Coordination Commission and IOC Executive Committee Member Gunilla Lindberg, a number of IOC members, as well as NOC representatives and Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) President KIM Jung-haeng.

All guests will be ushered through the exhibition hall of PyeongChang House, where the cultural and historical aspects of the Republic of Korea and PyeongChang will be on display, along with updates on the theme of "New Horizons" and the progress being carried out for PyeongChang's Games preparation.

The interior design of PyeongChang House is inspired by the traditional Korean house, called hanok.

The PyeongChang 2018 Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (POCOG) will host the XXIII Edition of the Winter Games between February 9-25 2018. Over 80 countries and 6,000 athletes are expected to take part in the first Winter Olympics held in Asia in 20 years. Seven sports will be on the official program comprising 15 disciplines.

The PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games will take place right after the Olympics March 9-18 2018 with approximately 50 countries and 690 athletes competing.  Five sports are on the Paralympic program that will take place in the Olympic venues.
