Victoria Tereshuk is fast, very fast. And with the modern pentathlon climaxing with a combined running and shooting event, that won't do any harm to her medal prospects at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Bronze medalist at the Beijing Games, this is Tereshuk's third Olympics. But she is still in aware of the experience of being an Olympic athlete. "The moment you step in you start feeling nervous like the first time, even though you know how and what is happening”, she says.

Ukraine's star performer has the credentials to be a real medal threat in London; she won the World Championships last year and came second in World Cup #4 in Rostov this year.

But with five disciplines being tested over a single day, under the most severe pressure, Tereshuk thinks predictions are foolhardy. “In my opinion, it can be any of the participants. As for me, I never think in advance, whether someone can win or not. Like many athletes, I am a bit superstitious.”

For Tereshuk life has changed since she stood on the podium in Beijing. She has become a mother, and is quick to point out that her continuing success in modern pentathlon could not have been achieved without a lot of support from her mother and her husband, never more so than she left for Mexico for the 2010 World Cup #1 and faced a month away from her five-month-old son.

“My mother's irreplaceable help in bringing up our child. My husband's support as a coach, the support of my doctor, who is the godfather of my child. Thanks to them my return took place," says Victoria.

Two years later after she gave birth to her first child, in addition to become World Champion for the first time in 2011, 2011 World Champion was honored master of sport of Ukraine and awarded the order of Princess Olga of the II degree.

Such achievements were not left without attention of the National Olympic Committee, who called Tereschuk the Best Athlete of 2011 in Ukraine - Tereshuck’s personal sports "Oscar".

“It was very surprising and I was very touched and honored. I think that such nominations are direct reflections of my sport achievements and results. I would not have them, if I did not do my job in Modern Pentathlon”

Despite Tereshuk’s glittering career, all will count for nothing if she does not finish that finishing line first in Greenwich park and fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming Olympic Champion.
