Spokesperson for PyeongChang 2018 Organizing Committee appointed
On 2 July 2012, the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games (POCOG) appointed Minji Kang, an experienced former news anchor from Arirang TV, Korea's premier English broadcasting network, as its spokesperson; thereby ensuring that the POCOG provides a 'unified voice' in press conferences and other public relations engagements.
Kang comes with a strong pedigree, having graduated from the University of Toronto, Trinity College, with a B.A. Honors degree, and received a master's degree in journalism from the Graduate School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the prestigious Yonsei University. For a decade, she has worked as a news reporter and anchor at Arirang TV. Most recently, she worked as a media relations officer at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies.
Kang was appointed on the occasion of the first anniversary of PyeongChang's election as the host city of the 2018 Winter Games. With this appointment, the POCOG expects to actively engage its stakeholders and the public in promoting the Olympic Winter Games, at home and abroad.
