Sydney: The two day event marked the kick-off of the 2012 KB4girls GLOBAL season when female kiters from all over NSW as well as VIC traveled to Culburra, 3 hours south of Sydney, to come together for a very special event. KITECHICKS and KB4girls had joined forces to bring girls and women together, promote kiteboarding amongst females, train them on safety and help develop their kite skills.
With an amazing group of 6 beginner and 20 advanced female kiters as well as countless volunteers from the NSWKBA and local kite schools and shops the event got underway with some fun games and briefings as everyone awaited the forecasted wind.
While the beginner group had a full and very successful day of kite flying lessons, and first waterstarts at the nearby lake, the advanced group was less lucky with the conditions and never got enough wind to actually kite. This however did not effect the great spirit of the participating girls in any way and each of them could be seen with big smiles on their faces while visualizing new tricks at the beach under the instructions of their coaches, receiving valuable advice on girls specific gear and practicing moves on the simulator.
The KITECHICKS BBQ on Saturday evening became the no-wind highlight and with a lot of action on the dance floor the girls ended up getting a proper workout after all.
Last but not least KB4girls/KITECHICKS participants had committed to setting up personal fundraising pages and contributing to the event by raising funds for the “Aim for the Stars Foundation”. At this point a total of 2000USD have been raised and the fundraising pages will be kept open until April 1, 2012 for more possible donations to arrive.
A huge thanks for making this fantastic weekend possible go to KITECHICKS organizer Priya Mohandas and national champion and KB4girls coach Marine Sudre as well as coaches and volunteers Emanuel, Joao, Marcel, Dan, Milada, James, Jen, Alex, Nick, Alex, Anne, Marcel, Steve, Eveline, Stuart and Jono.
Local partners and sponsors include the NSWKBA KITECHICKS, Kitepower, Alliance Gear, Wind Surf n Snow, Balmoral Boards, Zepher Kite Tours, Divine Kiting, Kiteburra & Australian Kite Surfari, Griffin.

KB4girls is a foundations that empowers females through the sport of kiteboarding that was launched in November 2009 by 9x Kiteboarding World Champion Kristin Boese. While the international clinic events gives female athletes from around the world the chance to get together for a fun and female experience it also motivates them to push their kiteboarding skills to the next level and possibly start to compete in kiteboarding.
Another goal of the KB4girls events is to support local charities that reach out to females in need which is done through fundraising at the KB4girls events.
