In support of a recently launched Kickstarter.com project, SportsQuest International has released a short promotional video, China Welcomes The World: The 2012 Hong Kong Masters. The video can be accessed on-line at: http://www.sportsquest.tv/HongKongMasters_Promo.html
The video incorporates imagery drawn from classic Chinese equestrian art - with glimpses into contemporary Hong Kong, the rich legacy of the Mongolian 'cowboys', and the world of international equestrian sport. The presentation has been crafted around the beautiful main theme of the Liang Zhu (aka Butterfly Lovers) Violin Concerto, composed in 1958 by Chen Gang and He Zhanhao.
The Hong Kong Masters is Asia's first 'five-star' show jumping competition of the modern era. The event is sanctioned by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) - the governing body of equestrian sport.
Organized by the Belgium based consultancy EEM - whose President, Nelson Pessoa, is a five-time Olympian - and supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation, the 2012 Hong Kong Masters CSI 5* will showcase the world's top 30 elite show jumpers and their horses.
The competition will be held March 1 - 3, 2012 at the AsiaWorld-Expo, proximate to the Hong Kong International Airport. Prize money for the event will be US $1,000,000 (approximately 7.8 million Hong Kong Dollars).
Video features produced during the Hong Kong Masters will be included in two upcoming video series: With Equestrian Tact… (for HRTV) and The Business of Horses (for PegasusTV) - and in other television, web and mobile presentations developed by SportsQuest International and its affiliates.
"This project provides a wonderful opportunity to educate ourselves and our audiences on the rich equestrian history of China," says SportsQuest International's Senior Producer, Melvin Cox. "From the beginning of our research, it has been quite clear that this story incorporates far more than simply a world class athletic competition. In examining the energy, pageantry and historic significance of this event, we will seek to identify and illuminate a number of recurring social, cultural, and commercial topics." The producers seek opportunities to actively partner with Chinese broadcasters, universities and equestrian groups.
