U.S. Olympic Committee launching Road to London Tour with five stops in 2012

Tour to include athlete meet-and-greets, interactive sport experiences, Team USA giveaways

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - With New Year’s Day officially ringing in the year of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the U.S. Olympic Committee is launching the Road to London Tour, a five-stop interactive experience bringing the spirit and excitement of the Games to Team USA fans around the country. The tour will include athlete meet-and-greet autograph sessions, fan sport experiences, interactive elements, Team USA giveaways and sponsor engagement.

All of the Road to London Tour stops are free and open to the public. For the latest event details and times, visit The tour will make the following stops in 2012:

Jan. 12-14 - Houston, Texas (Discovery Green)
U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field: Marathon

Feb. 18 - Salt Lake City, Utah (Gateway Mall)
10 year anniversary of the Salt Lake City 2002 Games

April 18 - New York City, N.Y.
100 Day Countdown to the London 2012 Games

June 28-July 1 - San Jose, Calif.

July 13 - Chicago, Ill.

The experience at-a-glance
When fans enter the Team USA Sports Zone at the five Road to London Tour stops, they’ll be immersed in the atmosphere of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The activities will include interactive and media elements, allowing fans to experience the Games as if they’re on the fields and courts alongside Team USA in London.

> At the Paralympic station, sponsored by BP, fans can experience the challenge of shooting a basketball and navigating a court while sitting in a wheelchair.

> At the endurance station, sponsored by Samsung, fans can hop on a stationary bike and pedal their way through the London Olympic cycling venue by watching their progress on interactive TV monitors.

> At the flexibility station, sponsored by Hilton HHonors, fans can have their photo taken doing weightlifting moves, and can retrieve them through

> Fans can watch video messages from Team USA athletes, and tape their own messages for friends and family to view via social media channels, courtesy of TD Ameritrade.

> Fans can compare their farthest long jump or speediest 10 meter dash or sharpest rifle shooting skills to the records of the Team USA athletes who will compete in London, or of U.S. legends from years past.

The Road to London Tour stop in New York City on the 100 day countdown to the London Games, presented by Hilton HHonors, will include additional elements featuring sport demonstrations from famous Olympians and Paralympians, sport clinics for fans to get in the action, and an Olympic program throughout the day.
