FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
10TH ANNIVERSARY THEME FOR 2012 SPORTACCORD CONVENTION
LAUSANNE, Switzerland - The SportAccord Convention announced today that its 2012 conference in Québec City will mark the event’s 10TH anniversary under the general theme of “A Decade of Change, A Future of Promise” exploring the impact and implications of the momentous continuing developments of the past ten years. The 2012 SportAccord Convention, the first to take place in Canada, will be held at the Québec City Convention Centre from May 20-25, 2012.
“Since the creation of our event in 2003, the world of sport has changed enormously before our eyes and the pace of change has been accelerating,” said Anna Hellman, executive director of the SportAccord Convention. “It’s hard to believe, for example, that social media and mobile platforms which have become important did not even exist ten years ago. Our conference in Québec City will focus on understanding the transformation that has been taking place and helping to show the way forward for sport and businesses involved in sport. We are looking forward to a lively exchange of opinions.”
Sessions will be devoted to topics such as the biggest ‘game changers’ in sport over the next decade, the outlook for sports television 10 years from now, and the shifting role of fans as customers and stakeholders, to name just a few of the important subjects on the conference programme.
The conference will once again bring together business and sporting leaders from around the world to examine and debate the key issues strategically. Many top-level participants are already confirmed and will be announced in the New Year.
A unique opportunity for international sporting leaders to engage with business, the SportAccord Convention features top-level conference sessions and a dynamic exhibition as well as the annual general meetings of governing bodies of world sport. The Convention attracts over 1,800 leading representatives of international sport. Previous editions of the annual event have been sold out and delegates and press are encouraged to register early at http://www.sportaccordconvention.com
Held in a different city every year, the SportAccord Convention celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2012. The Convention features top-level conference sessions and a dynamic exhibition as well as the annual general meetings of governing bodies of world sport.
