London 2012 Paralympic Games tickets back on sale in time for Christmas

Remaining tickets for the London 2012 Paralympic Games will go on sale on a first come, first served basis at 1pm on Friday 2 December 2011.
Following unprecedented interest a year out from the London 2012 Paralympic Games, over a million tickets have already been sold. However, a number of great tickets will still be available to purchase before Christmas when they go back on sale tomorrow- including for some medal sessions.

Full price tickets start at just £10, with tickets for young people and seniors costing only £5. Tickets will be available from http://www.tickets.london2012.com or via telephone on 0844 847 2012.
LOCOG Chief Executive Paul Deighton said: “Following the unprecedented demand for Paralympic tickets earlier this year, these tickets are a wonderful opportunity to take family and friends to the Games next year - a fantastic Christmas gift. Those who get hold of one of these remaining tickets will get the chance to witness amazing athletes and sport like never before during what will undoubtedly be a time of extraordinary pride for our nation.”

Athletics at the Olympic Stadium (good availability)

-    Blade-running rivals Oscar Pistorius (RSA) and Jerome Singleton (USA) expect to compete in tightly contested T44 sprinting events (100m on Thur 6 Sept, 200m on Sun 2 Sept, 400m on Sat 8 Sept)

-    Britain’s David Weir won gold in Beijing in the T54 800m and 1500m but will have to get past world-record holding Marcel Hug (SUI) to replicate that on Thur 6 Sept (800m) and Tues 4 Sept (1500m)

Swimming at the Aquatics Centre (good availability for morning sessions only)

-    British athletes are hopeful of great success in the pool. Highlights could include Ellie Simmonds going for golds in the S6 50m and 100m freestyle and 200m medley (Tue 4, Sat 8 and Mon 3 Sept); and brothers Sam and Oliver Hynd competing against each other in S8 200m medley (Wed 5 Sept) and 400m freestyle (Fri 31 Aug)

Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Tennis (availability through Day Pass)

-    Although reserved seating tickets for these popular events were oversubscribed during the initial application phase in September, Olympic Park Day Passes can still give spectators a chance to see these events on a first come, first served basis. There should even be the chance to see Wheelchair Tennis medal sessions on 5 and 7 Sept

Multi-sports with ExCeL day pass (good availability)

-    A £10 ExCeL Day Pass presents the opportunity to see a range of sports on one ticket,  including Powerlifting, Sitting Volleyball and Wheelchair Fencing, with medal events in at least one sport every day

-    Among the favourites at ExCeL will be GB’s European Champions such as Will Bayley (Table Tennis), Sam Ingram and Ben Quilter (-90kg and -60kg Judo), as well as the GB Boccia team as reigning Paralympic champions

Wheelchair Basketball (good availability at North Greenwich Arena)

-    The British men’s team won bronze in Beijing and are current European champions. They will be expecting to have to take on Australia and Canada in the excitement of the knockout rounds at North Greenwich Arena.

Equestrian at Greenwich Park (good availability)

-    With 100% success at Paralympic competition, GB star Lee Pearson has won nine Paralympic golds over the last three Games. He will look to win again in his Ib events on Sat 1 Sept and Mon 3 Sept.

-    Sophie Christiansen and Anne Durham are also expected to compete for repeat British golds in the Ia events such as on Tue 4 Sept, and the combined GB side will be hoping to emulate their Beijing team gold in the sessions on Thur 30 and Fri 31 Aug.

In recognition of Visa's longstanding support of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, only Visa (debit, credit and prepaid) can be used to purchase tickets.  For applicants outside of the UK, a full list of Authorised Ticket Resellers is available on the London 2012 ticketing website.

A Games Travelcard, for use on the day of the event on public transport in zones 1-9 in London and for travel between London and Eton Dorney and Brands Hatch, is included within the price of a ticket.

Day passes are one of the special products developed for the Paralympic Games, enabling spectators to see a range of sports taking place in the Olympic Park, ExCeL or The Royal Artillery Barracks on that day on a general admission basis. For example, at the ExCeL centre a £10 day pass could provide admission to a combination across Judo, Table Tennis, Sitting Volleyball, Wheelchair Fencing, Boccia and Powerlifting all in one trip. 

Group Organiser tickets will also be available, with group organisers who apply for 20 tickets or more per session and are allocated tickets receiving additional tickets at no extra charge.  A group organiser applying for 20 tickets would receive two extra tickets at no extra charge, an application of 30 tickets would revive a total of 33 tickets and so on up to an application for 50 tickets, which would receive 55.
