Monaco, 28 October 2011 - After 3 days of debates and discussions, the 5th edition of the Peace and Sport International Forum finished today with a commitment from all delegates present to bring a message of peace through sport to every region in the world which expresses the need.

In front of 500 decision-makers from sport, politics and the private sector gathered together for this important annual event in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Joel Bouzou, President and Founder of the organization, emphasized the exceptional collective determination that drives members of the Peace and Sport community:

"As with previous editions, the 2011 edition of the Forum was straight-talking and did not have a fixed agenda. Discussions were harsh at times with divided opinions, but we all felt that everyone wanted to lay on the table what they had in their hearts, to try to bring solutions to use sport for peace in the best possible way".

The key moment of the Forum was the joint proposal by H.E. Professor Manuel HASSASSIAN, Ambassador to the General Delegation of Palestine in Great Britain, Avraham BURG, former Speaker in the Knesset and Alain LEROY, former Under Secretary-General responsible for UN peace-keeping operations (DPKO). In an exceptional meeting, these 3 participants called on Peace and Sport to play the role of 'Third Party' and be a neutral mediator to organize a Regional Forum for peace through sport between Jerusalem and Ramallah.

In reply to this appeal, Joel Bouzou announced: "Yes, we will organize a Forum between Jerusalem and Ramallah, with the support of all of you, with the help of the Olympic movement, with the involvement of our Champions, plus the support of the UN which was offered to us yesterday. I am fully aware of the great responsibility this implies and I am assessing the risks for our organization which is still very young. But Peace and Sport will be present at this historic event, here and elsewhere that we are needed."

Joel Bouzou concluded by expressing his wish that the voice of peace through sport resounds everywhere across the world: "Year after year our communication and networking platform has proved its effectiveness. For this reason in future we will organize Regional Forums where there is a requirement; where people ask us to do so, and where we consider that Peace and Sport's presence can help to find a solution for sustainable peace through sport with complete freedom of expression."
In an extension of this vibrant call to widen the field of action of peace through sport and increase its sphere of influence, Anatoly Pakhomov, Mayor of Sochi in the Russian Federation, had Peace and Sport's flag officially passed to him from the hands of H.S.H. Prince Albert II as Sochi will host the 6th edition of the Peace and Sport Forum in 2012.

"Russia is a country which plays - and will increasingly play - a pivotal role in international relations during the 21st century. A country with a deep and admired passion for sport and for its values," explained Joel Bouzou.  "The Peace and Sport International Forum 2012 in Sochi will help build greater understanding, friendship and respect across borders."
