FC Indiana sign defender Sarah Stanczyk from University of Michigan

'She's a fighter and a very strong competitor,' Borkowski says

FC Indiana have signed the defender Sarah Stanczyk from University of Michigan. The 22-year-old, who predominantly plays as a center-back, made 35 starts for the NCAA D1 team in the last two seasons.

The FC Indiana coach, Shek Borkowski, said: "Stanczyk is a defender with good ability who performed extremely well last season for Michigan. We identified her as a very strong prospect, who has made big progress under Greg Ryan at Michigan. She has shown she is mentally strong, she's a fighter and a very strong competitor. Stanczyk is a good addition to our squad."

Stanczyk is scheduled to make her first appearance for FC Indiana on the weekend of 21 May, when FC Indiana play Ft Wayne SC and Indiana United.
Borkowski has been in the Caribbean evaluating potential signings, but the season opening weekend will be at the forefront of his mind when he returns, with the FC Indiana squad heading to their Lafayette training base before the league opener in three weeks.
