World #2 Adam Marosi (HUN) kept his cool to capture gold in a thrilling Men’s Final at World Cup #2 in Sassari, Italy.

Marosi overtook Justinas Kinderis (LTU), who had to settle for bronze on the final shoot to win his first World Cup in 10 months. World #1 Aleksander Lesun (RUS) won silver, a position he occupied all day.

Marosi, who was 2nd going into the final shoot said after the event: “I had a solid day all day which I was happy with. It all came down to the final shoot where I was able to hold my nerve and get the 5 green lights and Kinderis wasn’t.” Marosi was able to do his final shoot in 16.8 seconds compared to Kinderis’s 63 seconds.

A shattered Kinderis, who was having a dream day after winning the fencing and leading the event all day said: “I just couldn’t get that final green light on my final shoot, I am extremely disappointed as I had the gold medal in my hands.”

European Champion David Svoboda (CZE) had a mixed day as he preformed well under his best in the fencing and ride, but he “Could have taken Kinderis in the final run to get bronze, however Kinderis got a 60+ second rest in the final shoot where (Svoboda) didn’t and (his) legs had already gone. Kinderis also was very angry so was a man on a mission to get that medal.”

It was a day of world breaking feats as Remigiusz Golis (POL) broke the short course swimming World Record in a time of 1:52,64 and Ondrej Polivka (CZE) broke the shooting World Record for 5 shots in an astonishing time of 10.5 seconds, lowering the mark by 0.2 seconds.
