ATLANTA, GA——- Thanks to a donation from Atlanta Hawks guard and reigning NBA Sixth Man Award winner Jamal Crawford, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA) will launch its first weekend youth basketball league later this month. In addition to Crawford’s donation, the league will be supported by the Atlanta Hawks and partner On Court Player Development.
The BGCMA Basketball League presented by Jamal Crawford and the Atlanta Hawks will run from February-to-April for boys and girls (ages 7-to-15) at 24 different Clubs in the Atlanta area.
To tipoff the new league, a free youth clinic will be held on February 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the Hill Street Boys & Girls Club (535 Hill St. SE, Atlanta, GA 30312). The event will be led by the Hawks’ Basketball Development Team and On Court Player Development will be providing online basketball development content, such as practice plans and instructional videos to all league coaches and players.
Additionally, four players from the league, as well as BGCMA coaches and staff members, will be special guests at Philips Arena for the Hawks-Thunder game on March 4 (7:30 p.m. tipoff). Crawford will join the contingent for a pre-game jersey presentation and photo.
