LONDON DEBATING CHAMBER TO HOST CITY FORUM

LAUSANNE, Switzerland - The SportAccord Convention announced today that its 2011 City Forum in London will take place on Tuesday April 5 in the inspiring setting of the Debating Chamber of London’s County Hall.  The format of the Forum, an annual gathering for registered SportAccord Convention delegates, will be shaped as a debate to reflect this historic venue as participants examine topics of special relevance to cities around the world. London’s County Hall is located just across the street from the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel, the main venue for the SportAccord Convention from April 3-8.

Topics on the Forum’s agenda include Avoiding the White Elephant in the Room (about facilities for major events) and Are Emerging Markets Really Ready to Host Sporting Events? Plus a session on bringing sport events to city centres with a case study on Big Air Snowboarding. Among the many experts on the front benches of the Debating Chamber during the discussions will be:

•H.E. Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, secretary general, Qatar National Olympic Committee

•Andy Altman, chief executive, Olympic Park Legacy Company

•Inaki Alvarez, FIFA competitions director

•Jerry Anderson, senior principal, Populous

•Spyros Capralos, chairman, Athens Stock Exchange (former executive director of the Athens 2004 organisation)

Steering the debate will be BBC World presenter David Eades and Gregg Moss, news anchor from KUSA, the NBC affiliate in Denver, Colorado. For more information on the City Forum and the SportAccord Convention, visit http://www.sportaccordconvention.com.
