U.S. MNT TO FACE EGYPT ON FEB. 9 IN CAIRO

U.S. MNT TO FACE SEVEN-TIME AFRICA CHAMPION EGYPT ON FEB. 9 IN CAIRO:
The U.S. Men’s National Team will face seven-time and current Africa
Cup of Nations champion Egypt on Feb. 9 at the Cairo International
Stadium in Cairo. Kickoff and broadcast information will be announced
at a later date. Fans can follow the match live on ussoccer.com’s
MatchTracker or at twitter.com/ussoccer. The U.S. will face Egypt for
the first time since the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, where it
defeated the Pharaohs 3-0 with goals from Charlie Davies, Michael
Bradley and Clint Dempsey. The victory allowed the United States to
reach its first final of a major FIFA competition after defeating
No.1-ranked and current FIFA World Cup Champion Spain in the
semifinal. The two teams have met twice in their history, with the
United States collecting victories in both encounters. The teams first
faced each other on June 8, 1987, in Seoul, South Korea when the U.S.
collected a 3-1 victory.
TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR FIRST MNT MATCH OF 2011 AGAINST CHILE: The U.S.
Men’s National Team will play its first match of 2011 when they face
Chile on Saturday, Jan. 22, at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Kickoff for the match is set for 6 p.m. PT. Fans can also follow the

WINTER SHOWCASE CONCLUDES AT REACH 11 SPORTS COMPLEX IN PHOENIX: A
total of 242 games were played between Dec. 1-7 during the 2010
Development Academy Winter Showcase and Nike International Friendlies
have now concluded. Nearly 3,000 players passed through the 18 lighted
fields at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix as all 156 Academy
teams played three non-conference games. There were more than 350
coaches representing the national teams, professional clubs and
colleges in attendance and all three U.S. Soccer full-time referees
were on hand to work closely with up-and-coming Academy referees.

RONGEN CALLS ON 24 PLAYERS FOR TRAINING CAMP IN SUNRISE, FLA.: U.S.
U-20 Men’s National Team head coach Thomas Rongen finalized a
24-player roster for a training camp in Sunrise, Fla., from Dec.
12-19. The camp will include two friendlies against Canada on Dec. 16
and Dec. 18. The group features a combination of nine players who will
be making their first appearance in a U-20 camp and relative veterans
of the program. In all, the roster features 11 college players and
professional players who ply their trade in eight different countries.
There are three representatives of Major League Soccer, including D.C.
United's Conor Shanosky and a pair of Philadelphia Union players in
Jack McInerney and Amobi Okugo. Okugo will anchor the group of
midfielders along with Dillon Powers as both players also played key
roles during the 2009 cycle. They will be joined by collegians Steven
Evans (Portland) and Kelyn Rowe (UCLA) and professionals Joshua Gatt
(SC Rheindorf), Joseph Gyau (Hoffenheim) and Alex Molano (Dinamo
Zagreb). Rowe was a standout on the Crossfire Premier team that
advanced to the championship game in the past two Development Academy
Finals Weeks and is one of eight former Academy players heading to
Sunrise.

U.S. WNT DRAW KOREA DPR, COLOMBIA AND SWEDEN FOR 2011 FIFA WOMEN’S
WORLD CUP: The U.S. Women’s National Team will face Korea DPR,
Colombia and Sweden in Group C at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup
taking place from June 26-July 17 in Germany. The U.S. will open Group
C play against Korea DPR on June 28 in Dresden at the Rudolf-Harbig
Stadium on the third match day of the tournament, face Colombia in
Sinsheim on July 2 at the Rhein Neckar Arena and finish group play
against Sweden on July 6 at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Stadium
Wolfsburg. The USA’s group, which looks to be the most difficult of
the four, features three of the top six teams in the world in the USA
(1), Sweden (4) and Korea DPR (6). The USA will be grouped with Korea
DPR and Sweden in first round play for the third consecutive Women’s
World Cup, and Korea DPR for the fourth straight time. The meeting
with Colombia will be the first for the U.S. women.

U.S. UNDER-23 WNT FINISHES YEAR AT THE HDC: The U.S. Under-23 Women’s
National Team has convened at The Home Depot Center for a training
camp running from Dec. 12-19 in what is the final women’s training
camp of the year. U.S. head coach Bill Irwin has called in 24 players
in a group that includes some of the top college players in the
country as well as 10 professionals who played in Women’s Professional
Soccer this past season. The roster includes 12 players who have
represented the USA in a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, as well as six
players who have trained and/or played with the full U.S. Women’s
National Team this year: goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, defenders Brittany
Taylor and Nikki Krzysik, midfielders Casey Nogueira and Allie Long,

U.S. U-18 MNT ARRIVES IN TEL AVIV, ISRAEL: The U.S. U-18 Men’s
National Team has arrived in Tel Aviv for a three-game tournament that
features host Israel, Germany and France. The U.S. will play France on
Dec. 14 and Israel on Dec. 16. The match against Germany, originally
scheduled for Dec. 13 has been moved to Dec. 18. U.S. head coach Mike
Matkovich has brought 20 players to Tel Aviv, including 18 Development
Academy players and two professionals in goalkeeper Jonathan Kempin
from Sporting Kansas City and midfielder Victor Pineda from the
Chicago Fire. Villyan Bijev recently scored three goals in the Select
game at the recent Development Academy Winter Showcase. He was one of
11 players called into camp that participated in that game. There are
15 players that participated in Matkovich’s 36-player training camp at
The Home Depot Center in November.

U-15 BNT CONTINUES TRAINING CAMP IN BRADENTON: The U.S. U-15 Boys'
National Team is set for an eight-day training camp in Bradenton,
Fla., under head coach Jim Barlow. Held at the home of the U.S.
Socer's U-17 MNT Residency Program, all players were born in 1996 and
are age-eligible for the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup. There are 21
players who currently play for Development Academy clubs, but most are
two years younger than most players in the U-15/16 age group. This is
the second training camp at the U-15 BNT level for players born in
1996 following a week in Carson, Calif., in October. There are 24
players returning from that camp. The team will scrimmage the U.S.
U-17 MNT and local clubs during its time in Bradenton. The lone
international game will be on Dec. 16 against India.

U.S. SOCCER COACHESNET ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR BRAZIL AND
GERMANY/NETHERLANDS TRIPS IN MARCH 2011: In an effort to continue
providing unique coaching opportunities to its membership, U.S.
Soccer’s CoachesNet announces plans to offer educational trips to
Brazil and to Germany and the Netherlands in 2011. Entering its third
year, the aim of U.S. Soccer’s international coaching education
program is to expose U.S. coaches to other federations and clubs to
learn the steps they take to develop their coaches and players.
Attendees interact directly with top-level coaches, administrators and
players from some of the best clubs and countries in the world.
Scheduled to take place March 17-25, 2011, coaches will visit
five-time FIFA World Cup Champion Brazil, host of the 2014 FIFA World
Cup. The coaching education workshop in Germany and the Netherlands
will take place from April 28 - May 6, 2011 and will mark the 40th
anniversary of U.S. Soccer’s Coaching Education Program which began
under the direction of Dettmar Cramer.
NATIONAL GOALKEEPER COURSE TO BE HELD JAN. 23-30 AT THE HDC:
Registration for U.S. Soccer’s National Goalkeeping License set for
Jan. 23-30, 2011 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. is now
open. The course, intended for both the goalkeeper coach and the team
coach, will focus on improving the coaches' ability to train
goalkeepers individually, as well as integrate them into team

PEAK PERFORMER: The University of Akron claimed its first NCAA
championship in any sport by capping an impressive men's soccer season
in Sunday's title game with a 1-0 victory against Louisville. Loaded
with former Residency and Development Academy players, the Zips
avenged last year’s penalty shootout loss in the final to claim the
trophy.
MARQUEE MATCHUP: In a matchup of the top four of the English Premier
League, Manchester United, who regained their lead atop the standings
with a 1-0 victory against Arsenal earlier this afternoon, face
Chelsea at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 19 at Stamford Bridge in a
