December 1-3 in Monaco
Monaco, 3 December, 2010 - During the closing ceremony of the 4th Peace and Sport International Forum which ended today in Monaco, another 14 Olympic and non-Olympic international sports federations, plus the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced that they are joining the Peace and Sport platform to deploy educational programs through sport across the globe.
The Federations are:
* The International Baseball Federation (IBAF)
* The International Boxing Association (AIBA)
* The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC)
* The International Fencing Federation (FIE)
* The World Karate Federation (WKF)
* The International Federation of Muay Thai Amateur (IFMA)
* The International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA)
* The International Table Soccer Federation (ITSF)
* The Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF)
* The International Softball Federation (ISF)
* The World Squash Federation (WSF).
* The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF)
* International Taekwondo Federation
* International Volleyball Federation (FIVB)
These partnerships will reinforce Peace and Sport's field capacity by bringing support, technical and human resources and expertise from IFs, resulting in concrete action to reconcile communities, to promote dialogue and to reintegrate vulnerable young people back into society in regions affected by post conflict, extreme poverty or lack of social cohesion.
With the support of their National Federations, these new members of the Peace and Sport family will provide equipment (via their sports equipment partners) and expertise to Peace and Sport's Locally-Based Projects in Côte d'Ivoire , the Great Lakes region in Africa, Israel-Palestine , Colombia and East Timor .
By acting in this way, they are also helping to develop their sport in new regions whilst assisting vulnerable communities. Peace and Sport provides federations with a complete platform for operational cooperation, where their skills will be optimized and integrated into global projects, supported at the highest political level.
In his speech to close the International Forum, standing before delegates from over 90 countries, the President and Founder of Peace and Sport, Joel Bouzou, declared:
"Peace and Sport is still a very young organization that has existed for just four years. Our only worth is the worth of the platform we run, and this is your platform: governments, sports institutions, local and national NGOs, partners from the private sector, press, and Champions. Alone, isolated we are worth nothing. Together, with efficient networking, we can demonstrate that sport has a positive influence on the world's direction and give many examples of concrete action to illustrate this.
I warmly thank the International Federations who have joined us today, who will give an added impetus to our action on all continents."
