FIFA DECISION ON 2018 AND 2022 FIFA WORLD CUPS COMES DEC. 2
U.S. WNT DRAWN WITH KOREA DPR, COLOMBIA AND SWEDEN FOR 2011 FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP; VOTING OPEN FOR 2010 ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARDS
U.S. TO MAKE PRESENTATION TO FIFA DEC. 1, 2018 AND 2022 FIFA WORLD
CUPS AWARDED ON DEC 2: FIFA will announce the hosts of the 2018 and
2022 FIFA World Cups this Thursday, Dec. 2, at Messe Zürich in Zurich,
Switzerland, one day after the makes its final presentation to the
FIFA Executive Committee. Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman
will speak on behalf of the U.S. bid to host the FIFA World Cup™ in
2022, along with U.S. President Bill Clinton, the honorary chairman of
the USA Bid Committee; U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati, the
chairman of the USA Bid Committee; and U.S. Men’s National Team
midfielder Landon Donovan, a member of the USA Bid Committee board of
directors. The U.S. will make the 30-minute presentation at 11 a.m. ET
on Wednesday, Dec. 1 - the same date that the other four 2022 Bidding
Nations will present. All of the presentations will be viewable live
on FIFA.com. The decision of the FIFA Executive Committee will be
announced at approximately 10 a.m. ET live on ESPN’s SportCenter, Fox
Soccer Channel, Univision and ESPN Deportes.
U.S. WNT DRAW KOREA DPR, COLOMBIA AND SWEDEN FOR 2011 FIFA WOMEN’S
WORLD CUP: The U.S. Women’s National Team will face Korea DPR,
Colombia and Sweden in Group C at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup
taking place from June 26-July 17 in Germany. The Final Draw took
place on Monday evening at the Frankfurt Congress Center in Frankfurt,
Germany. The U.S. will open Group C play against Korea DPR on June 28
in Dresden at the Rudolf-Harbig Stadium on the third match day of the
tournament, face Colombia in Sinsheim on July 2 at the Rhein Neckar
Arena and finish group play against Sweden on July 6 at the FIFA
Women’s World Cup Stadium Wolfsburg. The USA’s group, which looks to
be the most difficult of the four, features three of the top six teams
in the world in the USA (1), Sweden (4) and Korea DPR (6). The USA
will be grouped with Korea DPR and Sweden in first round play for the
third consecutive Women’s World Cup, and Korea DPR for the fourth
straight time. The meeting with Colombia will be the first for the
U.S. women.

U.S. WOMEN TOP ITALY 1-0 AT HOME, 2-0 IN TOTAL GOALS PLAYOFF SERIES:
The U.S. Women’s National Team defeated Italy 1-0 in front of more
than 9,000 fans in the second match of a two-leg playoff series to win
2-0 on aggregate and earn the 16th and final berth to the 2011 FIFA
Women’s World Cup. The USA had won the first leg 1-0 in Padova, Italy,
on Nov. 20 on a late goal from Alex Morgan. The only goal of the game
at Toyota Park came off the foot of Amy Rodriguez in the 40th minute
after a nice build-up down the left wing. Megan Rapinoe smacked an
angled shot that Italian goalkeeper Anna Picarelli knocked down, but
couldn’t hold. Rodriguez was first to the rolling ball, sliding
bravely to pound it into the roof of the net from six yards.

GERMANY: Individual tickets for all 2011 Women's World Cup matches are
officially on sale. Individual tickets are available from
approximately $20 for first round matches, with the exception of the
opening match, and the match for third place. Of the 700,000 available
tickets, more than 270,000 have already been sold as venue specific
tickets and group tickets.

VOTING OPENS FOR 2010 ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARDS: The finalists for
each of the four prestigious U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year Awards -
Male, Female, Young Male and Young Female - have been announced by the
sport’s governing body in the United States. With the announcement,

U.S. U-20 MNT PLAYS COLOMBIA, MEXICO TO 1-1 DRAWS AT TORNEO DE LAS
AMERICAS: The U.S. U-20 Men's National Team drew with Mexico 1-1 in
the final game of the Torneo de las Americas at the KSU Soccer Stadium
in Kennesaw, Ga., coming back from a second-half deficit against their
CONCACAF rival. It was the second 1-1 draw for the Americans in as
many games after a 1-1 scoreline against Colombia on Friday evening.
Alex Zahavi, who was playing his first game for the U.S., scored the
game’s only goal against Colombia on Friday and set up Gale
Agbossoumonde for the game-tying goal late in the game against Mexico.
U.S. head coach Thomas Rongen used a blend of new faces and U-20 MNT
veterans in the two matches.

2010 DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY WINTER SHOWCASE AND NIKE FRIENDLIES SET FOR
DEC. 1-7 IN PHOENIX, ARIZ.: The 2010 Development Academy Winter
Showcase and Nike International Friendlies will be held from Dec. 1-7
at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Ariz. All 78 Academy clubs
will be on hand for three games of non-Conference play alongside the
Under-17 Men’s National Teams from the U.S., Brazil, Korea Republic
and Turkey. Fox Soccer Channel will televise all three of the U.S.
U-17 MNT games, starting with the match against Korea Republic on Dec.
1, Brazil on Dec. 3 and Turkey on Dec. 5, with all three games kicking
off at 5 p.m. local time (7 p.m. ET). For the first time, the six-game
round-robin event will be played as a tournament and crown a champion.
It will be one of the last events for Wilmer Cabrera’s team ahead of
the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship in February.

U.S. U-15 GNT FINISH ODP THANKSGIVING INTERREGIONALS: The U.S. U-15
Girl’s National Team finished its three-game set at the ODP
Thanksgiving Interregionals with a 1-2-0 record after dropping its
last match by a 3-2 score to Region IV 94s. The U.S. started the week
with a 4-1 win against Region I 94s and dropped a 1-0 decision to
Region III 94s just two days later. These players are at the beginning
of a cycle that has the end goal of qualifying for the 2012 FIFA U-17
Women’s World Cup. The roster features players from 18 different

SOTO NAMES ROSTER AHEAD OF CONCACAF QUALIFYING FOR 2011 FIFA BEACH
SOCCER WORLD CUP: The U.S. Beach Soccer Men’s National Team has
arrived in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, ahead of CONCACAF qualifying for
the 2011 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. U.S. head coach Eddie Soto has
brought along 12 players for games against Guatemala on Dec. 1,
Bahamas on Dec. 2 and Costa Rica on Dec. 3. The top two teams in each
group will advance to the semifinals on Dec. 4, and the winner of the
two semifinals move on to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Rome,
Italy, from Sept. 1-11, 2011. The U.S. team will be attempting to
qualify for its first FIFA Beach World Cup since 2007 in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil, after missing out on Marseilles 2008 and Dubai 2009.

U.S. SOCCER AND EA SPORTS LAUNCH UPDATED FREE ONLINE RESOURCE: EA
SPORTS and U.S. Soccer have teamed up to create the second version of
EA SPORTS Interactive Training, a free, online tutorial that uses EA
SPORTS technology to help train the soccer stars of the future. This
interactive resource, available at EASPORTSinteractivetraining.com,
employs the EA SPORTS soccer game engine to illustrate U.S. Soccer’s
“Best Practices for Coaching Soccer in the United States” which serves
as the sport’s definitive player development guidelines. This year’s
iteration features drills specifically designed for youth players aged
13 to 18 years old. U.S. Soccer national team staff members Greg
Vanney and Manni Klar introduce each video segment with expert
coaching advice for players and their coaches to help them improve
real-world technique.
U.S. SOCCER COACHESNET ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR BRAZIL AND
GERMANY/NETHERLANDS TRIPS IN MARCH 2011: In an effort to continue
providing unique coaching opportunities to its membership, U.S.
Soccer’s CoachesNet announces plans to offer educational trips to
Brazil and to Germany and the Netherlands in 2011. Entering its third
year, the aim of U.S. Soccer’s international coaching education
program is to expose U.S. coaches to other federations and clubs to
learn the steps they take to develop their coaches and players.
Attendees interact directly with top-level coaches, administrators and
players from some of the best clubs and countries in the world.
Scheduled to take place March 17-25, 2011, coaches will visit
five-time FIFA World Cup Champion Brazil, host of the 2014 FIFA World
Cup. The coaching education workshop in Germany and the Netherlands
will take place from April 28 - May 6, 2011 and will mark the 40th
anniversary of U.S. Soccer’s Coaching Education Program which began
under the direction of Dettmar Cramer.
NATIONAL GOALKEEPER COURSE TO BE HELD JAN. 23-30 AT THE HDC:
Registration for U.S. Soccer’s National Goalkeeping License set for
Jan. 23-30, 2011 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. is now
open. The course, intended for both the goalkeeper coach and the team
coach, will focus on improving the coaches' ability to train
goalkeepers individually, as well as integrate them into team

PEAK PERFORMER: U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Clint Dempsey got
on the score sheet once again for his club side Fulham in their 1-1
draw with Birmingham on Saturday. Dempsey powered in a header to
rescue a point for the Cottagers who went down a goal in the first
half. The Texas native now has five goals in 15 appearances this
season for his club.
MARQUEE MATCHUP: The U.S. Women’s National Team will open its 2011
FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign on June 28 in Dresden against Korea
DPR. This will be the fourth meeting between the countries with the
U.S. holding a 2-0-1 record against the Asian nation with all three
previous meetings coming in group play at the last three Women’s World
Cups.
SOCCER SHOCKER: It’s déjà vu over and over and over again for the U.S.
Women’s National Team as they draw Korea DPR for a fourth consecutive
FIFA Women’s World Cup. On the other hand, the U.S. has never faced
Colombia in any competition - and Colombia will be just the third
South American opponent ever for the WNT. Other than Brazil, the U.S.
faced Argentina twice in the late 1990s.
