Over 500 decision-makers from 90 countries unite to put sport at the service of peace

Monaco - 25 November 2010. An influential community of decision-makers
from sport, politics and the private sector will gather together next
week in the Principality of Monaco for the 4th Peace and Sport
International Forum to put sport at the service of sustainable peace
in the world.

Under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, in a
neutral and apolitical environment, this unique summit will bring
together more than 500 experts and leading figures from 90 countries
in order to achieve a major goal: fortify the role of sport in
international and local policies for peace-building, peace-keeping and
peace-promotion in countries in crisis.

Participants who will be present include representatives from 45
governments, major international organizations, 30 Olympic and
non-Olympic International Sports Federations, 20 members of the
International Olympic Committee, 30 Presidents of National Olympic
Committees, plus companies from the private sector and numerous actors
in the field (NGOs and associations).

Joël Bouzou, President and Founder of Peace and Sport, explains:
“Advancing the cause of peace in the world is a major concern of
inter-governmental institutions as well as citizens and all
responsible entities in our international community. Today, sport is
increasingly proving itself as a legitimate and efficient instrument
to achieve this objective. The community of stakeholders who want to
commit to, or increase their involvement in this initiative is growing
all the time, as the growing success of the International Forum
demonstrates. In this context, our platform aims to bring together
initiatives and people who want to deploy sport for peace and use it
as a catalyst for their projects."

An impressive line-up of high-profile figures and committed
stakeholders will enrich the 3 days of debates:

Living legends of sport, such as Paula RADCLIFFE (marathon), Sergey
BUBKA (pole-vault), Christian KAREMBEU (football), Sébastien CHABAL
(rugby), Frankie FREDERICKS (100 and 200m), Tatiana GOLOVIN (tennis),
Wilson KIPKETER (800m)... each of whom is a Champion for Peace.

in the world: Claude BAZIBUE NYAMUGABO (Minister of Youth and Sport in
the Democratic Republic of Congo), Joseph HABINEZA (Minister of Youth
and Sport in Rwanda), Jean-Jacques NYENIMIGABO (Minister of Youth,
Sport and Culture in Burundi), Mohammad Zaher AGHBAR (President of the
