Organizational Development Initiative Workshop Heads to Trinidad and Tobago
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is taking its Organizational Development Initiative, which aims to increase the number of athletes participating in Paralympic Sport, to Trinidad and Tobago this weekend.
Launched in July 2007 to help promising National Paralympic
Committee's (NPC) reach their potential, the Organizational
Development Initiative will see members of the Trinidad and Tobago NPC
together with government ministers and other relevant authorities
participate in three days of intensive workshops led by the IPC's
Chief Operating Officer Georg Schlachtenberger.
As part of the workshops, the NPC will receive specialized coaching to
deliver activities which they outline as priority for their
organisation, thus developing an organizational capacity for the
future. It will also take part in open discussion about the
challenges it faces and how it can take advantage of some of the
opportunities that exist.
Georg Schlachtenberger said: "The Organizational Development
Initiative helps NPCs strengthen and stabilize their country in terms
of Paralympic Sport and to become more active members of the
Paralympic Movement.
"The selection of Trinidad & Tobago is strategic as it is one of the
countries involved the International Inspiration programme organized
by London 2012."
International Inspiration is London 2012's official international
sports legacy programme which aims to use the power of physical
education, sport and play to enrich the lives of millions of children
and young people of all abilities in 20 countries across the world.
