Building on a wide range of partnerships in Qatar, Frank Williams is supporting the Qatar 2022 World Cup bid and extending the support of Williams F1 to bring the 2022 FIFA World Cup to Doha.

On November 17th Frank Williams attended the Aspire 4 Sport Congress in Doha where he met Hassan Al Thawadi, CEO of the Qatar 2022 Bid.

Frank said, "Williams' future is now inextricably linked with Qatar. Following our investment in the Williams Technology Centre at the Qatar Science & Technology Park, we feel it is important to support Qatar in its emergence as an international sporting destination and in their innovative and compelling bid to stage the 2022 World Cup."

He continued, "We also believe that it is right to bring the World Cup to the Middle East and Qatar certainly is capable of hosting a wonderful event. Holding the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will also create a long term legacy in the region on many different fronts."

Hassan Al Thawadi - Ceo of Qatar 2022 Bid - said, "Our bid showcases Qatar as a nation ready to utilise and develop the newest technologies for the benefit of the world of sport and Williams have shown their belief in Qatar as a destination where sport and technology can be combined and invested in.  I'd like to thank Sir Frank for his team's support for our bid - Williams F1 is famous for their history of success and innovation in sporting technology and to receive their support can only be a massive boost for us."

Having been the first Formula One team to run its cars in Qatar, Williams is currently supporting a country-wide road safety campaign alongside the Qatar National Bank (QNB) to encourage safer driving. The campaign is based on members of the public making personal road safety pledges, supported by Williams in direct engagement campaigns with the Qatari public through various programmes from schools presentations to 'on-the-ground' presence and promotion in shopping malls.
