MONACO/LONDON, October 11, 2010: Friday evening, 30 girls aged 22 to 69 gathered at the Adur Outdoor Activities Center in Shoreham to register for the UK stop of the KB4girls World Tour.
Tailored to meet the needs of different levels of expertise, the KB4girls clinic aimed at helping the girls improve their riding skills. The clinic also gave the girls a chance to build their local kite boarding network and get to know more female kiters with whom to hit the water in the future.
The clinic took place with help and support of the local kite communities of Shoreham and Lancing, coordinated by Frazer Stewart and Andrina Kelly and supported by Kiteworld Magazine, the Adur Outdoor Activities Center, The Beach House Shoreham and the the Brighton Kitesurfing Accademy.
The event programme started with a mandatory official IKO safety workshop. Followed by a BBQ, bon fire and recreational games in which the girls got a chance to get to know each other better during the first evening.
With the kite spots around Lancing being very tide dependent the clinic then started at 6.30 am on Saturday morning with Kristin’s popular on the water demonstration. The wind conditions were difficult and not suitable for the participants so the group focused on technique coaching and simulator training on land after the demonstration of the tricks.
In search of wind the group moved over to the Hayling Island Kitesurf Club in the afternoon but had no luck and a similar forecast for Sunday meant a more or less windless ending of the clinic.
Annelies van de Velde was awarded a Best Kiteboarding t-shirt as most improved rider on the simulator bar while Jo Malyon was awarded the Silke-Gorldt-Spirit-Award and received a Kitesurfing DVD by Kristin Boese for her continuous effort and help during the event.
Thanks were due to all the helpers and volunteers. Andrina Kelly and Nina Voelker received a Best Kiteboarding Kristin Boese pro model kite board and as thanks for their support.
Other local volunteers who received special necklaces from Kristin included Tash and Kevin (who helped organise the event), Ellie (who helped with coaching), Jake (instructor), Laura (who travelled from Zanzibar to help out as an IKO instructor), Solveig Rudick (assistant), Mark Glendinning (videographer) and Christian (star photographer).
Special thanks also went out to the crew from Kiteworld Magazine, the Adur Outdoor Activities Center and the crew from the Beach House Shoreham.
The KB4girls tour and its individual stops would not exist without the continuous support of our sponsors such as Best Kiteboarding, DaKine, Kiehl’s, Kiteworld Magazine and the Brighton Kitesurfing Academy.

About KB4girls
KB4girls is a non-profit worldwide clinic tour for female kiteboarders that was launched in November 2009 by Kristin Boese. While the tour gives female athletes from around the world the chance to get together for a fun time together it also motivates them to push their kiteboarding skills to the next level and possibly start to compete in kiteboarding.
Another goal of the KB4girls events is to support the Surfrider Foundation Europe and the protection of the oceans and beaches. While registration fees are being donated to the Foundation educational materials are being supplied in return and given out to all participating girls, teaching them about their precious playgrounds and how to possibly help to protect them.
About Kristin Boese
Sports model Kristin Boese, Guinness World Record™ record-holder and nine-time world kiteboarding champion reaches out to girls around the world to sharpen their skills and learn new riding tricks. The 32-year-old from Potsdam, Germany, grew up behind the iron curtain. A stellar student, Kristin showed interest in a wide variety of sports and ended up playing semi-professional handball for 12 years.
In summer 2002 she discovered kite-boarding and within a few months left Germany behind on her way to Fuerteventura/Spain to work at a kite and windsurf center and to dive into the sport which she has very successfully done since. Boese has also written two instructional kite-boarding books with Christian Spreckels “Kitesurfing In The Waves: The Complete Guide” and “Kitesurfing: The Complete Guide.” She has also published a DVD “Kitesurfing - a comprehensive guide with world champion Kristin Boese.” This is a complete learning program for kitesurfers of all levels.
