TAMPA/LONDON/PORTLAND, September, 6th 2010: For the KB4girls event in Hood River, with nine-times champion Kristin Boese, girls came from as far as Canada and California to join the girls from Oregon and Washington. A total of 40 participants met in front of the Cascade Kiteboarding School on Saturday and signed up for a fun one-day clinic at the Sandbar of Hood River/OR.
The conditions of the day proved difficult with the wind gusting from 11 to 30 knots. Many of the male kiters were surrendering to the conditions and watching the action from the beach. It was only due to the participants' unwavering motivation as well as the unbelievable commitment of the amazing coaches Becky Henry, Kris Kinn and Tonia Farman and tour founder Kristin Boese that made the day such a splashing success.
Dr Amber Kirk from Vancouver/Canada said: "Coming to the KB4girls workshop was absolutely fantastic. I realized that meeting all the girls, having so much fun, supporting and encouraging each other and watching Kristin's demonstration on the water was priceless! It really did not matter how the conditions were and how I kited that day - when I walked away and had seen what I could learn I was so inspired. My friends and I are now all so excited that we are talking about where and when we can go and practice all these new tricks!"
After a full day of kiting, coaching, demonstrations, crashes and new tricks the group got together at the Sandbar Café which had already sponsored the lunch packages and also hosted the prize ceremony and after-party at its amazing location right on the water, overlooking the river and the kite spot. The group could not have had a better and more beautiful place to wrap up the day, sip a neuro SPORT replenishment drink supplied by neuro and honor the most outstanding efforts and achievements of the day.
T-shits and rashvests donated by DaKine, Best, Cascade Kiteboarding and KB4C went to Heather Touhey, Laura Low Ah Kee, Krista Rogers, Monika Milowski, Jodi Craig, Anna Weber and Candace Shadley. It was Alison Calder who won the Best Kiteboarding KB pro model board for the most outstanding performance of the day. Nadia Beaupre won the best crash contest and the spirit award in memories of Silke Gorldt went to Lauren Burwell.
No matter how motivated the girls and how great the coaches, without the amazing support of the local community and partners the event could not have been such a complete success. Therefore special thanks are due to Cascade Kiteboarding, Windance, 2nd Wind, The Sandbar Café, Neuro and our amazing event crew consisting of photographer Jon Malmberg, videographer Jeff Kraemer, beach and rescue support Sky Solbach as well as our female coaches Becky Bishop, Kris Kinn and Tonia Farman!

About KB4girls
KB4girls is a non-profit worldwide clinic tour for female kiteboarders that was launched in November 2009 by Kristin Boese. While the tour gives female athletes from around the world the chance to get together for a fun time together it also motivates them to push their kiteboarding skills to the next level and possibly start to compete in kiteboarding.
Another goal of the KB4girls events is to support the Surfrider Foundation Europe and the protection of the oceans and beaches. While registration fees are being donated to the Foundation educational materials are being supplied in return and given out to all participating girls, teaching them about their precious playgrounds and how to possibly help to protect them.
About Kristin Boese
Sports model Kristin Boese, Guinness World Record™ record-holder and nine-time world kiteboarding champion reaches out to girls around the world to sharpen their skills and learn new riding tricks. The 32-year-old from Potsdam, Germany, grew up behind the iron curtain. In summer 2002 she discovered kite-boarding and within a few months left Germany behind on her way to Fuerteventura/Spain to work at a kite and windsurf center and to dive into the sport which she has very successfully done since.
Boese has also written two instructional kite-boarding books with Christian Spreckels "Kitesurfing In The Waves: The Complete Guide" and "Kitesurfing: The Complete Guide." She has also published a DVD "Kitesurfing - a comprehensive guide with world champion Kristin Boese." This is a complete learning program for kitesurfers of all levels.
