SportAccord World Combat Games: 10 days to go
Lausanne/Beijing, Aug 18: Fine tuning for the Games: The inaugural SportAccord World Combat Games stage from August 28 to September 4 in Beijing, China.
They feature 13 Combat Sports and Martial Arts, both Olympic and non-Olympic such as Aikido, Boxing, Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Kendo, Kickboxing, Muaythai, Sambo, Sumo, Taekwondo, Wrestling, and Wushu.
1108 top athletes will come to Beijing to compete for the 136 gold medals awarded during the eight days of competition. But the World Combat Games will be more than "just" sports. A rich Cultural Program has been designed to display the values and traditions of the ancient sports and their positive contribution to modern society.
Stars and champions like Jet Li, Don "the Dragon" Wilson, Gam Gavintra Photijak and Wrestling Olympic Champion Rulon Gardner will act as Ambassadors during the whole week and contribute to the exciting atmosphere.
