Sports attorney and private investigator Michael L. Buckner will be contributing his candid opinion about the sanctions imposed by the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions in the University of Southern California enforcement case (which involved Reggie Bush, former college star and current New Orleans Saints player) on REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL, which will debut its 160th edition on WEDNESDAY, JULY 14, 2010, exclusively on HBO at the following times:

· East: 9 pm

· Central: 8 pm

· Mountain East: 7 pm

· Mountain West: 10 pm

· Pacific: 9 pm

Check your local cable and satellite listings for the dates and times of other airings of the program on HBO and HBO2. The program also will be available on HBO On Demand from July 19-August 8, 2010.

Mr. Buckner's interview will be featured in the segment "Risky Business":

In January 2008, as allegations of illegal benefits swirled around departed star USC running back Reggie Bush, REAL SPORTS correspondent Bernard Goldberg went to California to get enterprising sports agent Lloyd Lake's version of what took place during Bush's college career. Lake had been a close associate of Bush and his family, and claimed to have the evidence to authenticate the charges that the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner has consistently denied. In light of the severe punishment meted out by the NCAA to the university in June, REAL SPORTS reexamines Lake's claims. Producers: Chapman Downes, Jill Klapper.

REAL SPORTS WITH BRYANT GUMBEL has won the Sports Emmy® for Outstanding Sports Journalism 12 times in its 15 years, and is the first and only sports program honored with the duPont Award for excellence in broadcast journalism by Columbia University.

Mr. Buckner's appearance on REAL SPORTS will showcase his philosophy about "telling universities what they need to hear, not what they want to hear" to maintain rules-compliance and decrease the occurrence of major NCAA rules-violations. Based on his review of the infractions committee report in the USC case, Mr. Buckner briefed REAL SPORTS correspondence Bernie Goldberg about whether Lake was validated by the NCAA decision.

Mr. Buckner's REAL SPORTS interview emphasizes the importance of proactive rules-compliance programs at all NCAA member institutions. The Michael L. Buckner Law Firm will continue to recommend the following measures to address high-profile student-athletes:

· Implement policies and procedures to conduct due diligence reviews of high-profile prospective student-athletes during the recruiting process and/or prior to initial full-time enrollment. [Contact Michael Buckner (954-941-1844) for more information on due-diligence reviews.]

· Implement policies and procedures to monitor and identify "red flags" concerning high-profile enrolled student-athletes (including the students' parents, guardians and individuals associated with a prospect). [Contact Michael Buckner (954-941-1844) for more information on due-diligence monitoring programs.]

· Register for the "USC-NCAA Investigation: Strategies to Address High-Profile Student-Athlete Issues" session during the July 23, 2010, College Sports Coffee Break Workshop at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott. The program will assist general counsel and higher education professionals with identifying, as well as developing solutions to minimize legal and rules-compliance challenges concerning, high-profile student-athletes.
