Women's Football: Russian referee to handle the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship final
Russian referee Anastasia Pustovoitova will handle the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship final between Spain and Ireland in Nyon, Switzerland on Saturday.
Russian referee Anastasia Pustovoitova will handle the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship final between Spain and Ireland in Nyon, Switzerland on Saturday.
Pustovoitova, from Moscow, made the move over from a being a national-team player to refereeing, having been a member of the Russian squad at the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Russian women’s champions, Zvezda-2005, coach Shek Borkowski has seen referees on two continents and in 6 competitions, and has complimented the referees in Russia, believing that they are well prepared for every match.
“The women’s football referees in Russia are well prepared, and Anastasia is very good," he praised. “She is composed, firm and fair.”
In an interview with UEFA.com Pustovoitova stressed the need for good, calm preparation. “I like to sleep well, which is hugely important for referees or players."
Pustovoitova explained her feelings, “My heart is pumping when I hear the national anthems, and I tell myself to keep calm," said Pustovoitova. "I thank people like my parents, and I think how I appreciate the chance to be at such a match."
