Women's Football: Borkowski believes Switzerland can beat Russia
Polish born women’s football manger Shek Borkowski knows Russian women’s football in and out, every player in detail and says that Switzerland can win in Russia.
Polish born women's football manger Shek Borkowski won 2 league and 2
cup in the US before moving to Russia to coach Russian champions
Zvezda-2005.
He knows Russian women's football in and out, every player in detail.
Four Russian national team players play for him at Zvezda-2005. He
says Russia shouldn't be feared and points can be taken off them even
at home.
Borkowski believes the gameplan for Switzerland's game against Russia
should be to stay compact, disciplined, to close down Elena Morozova
early, track Russian captain Skotnikova and to attack Russians' on the
left flank. "Russians as a whole are well organised," Borkowski said
in an interview. "They will work their socks off against Switzerland,
especially in the first 30 minutes.
"Beatrice Von Siebenthal will be well prepared and does not need my
advice but if the Swiss don't concede early, they will have a very
good chance of getting the points especially if they can do well
against Russia's right back."
"Russia's key players are Morozova and Skotnikova first and foremost.
"Goalkeeper Todua is just returning from an injury and has not played
much for her club Rossiyanka. That could impact her play on set
pieces.
Russia's center back Kozhnikova is slow, according to Borkowski, but
has a good cover in Ksenia Tsybutovich, who plays for Borkowski's
club.
Asked about which Swiss players he likes Borkowski said that Ramona
Bachmann, whom he tried to sign in 2007 before her move to Umea IK can
be a key for the Swiss.
