ASICS teams up with Eurosport for pan-European campaign in 2010
Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, April 22 -- ASICS has entered a cross-media partnership with Eurosport, Europe's leading sports-entertainment group, to become a broadcast sponsor around the major marathons and key athletics event
The campaign, from April to November, includes a dedicated multi-language microsite, http://asics.eurosport.com, which will feature a special online photo competition hosted across Eurosport’s network of 11 websites in 10 languages.
The first wave of the pan-European campaign is broadcast around the major marathons, including Tokyo, Paris, London, Rome, New York and Seoul, and features a large number of TV-commercials as well as sponsorship elements. These will take the form of six-second, custom-made spots as well as a series of tailor-made editorial programmes featuring elite marathon runner Mara Yamauchi (UK) giving runners tips on training, nutrition and equipment.
The second wave of the campaign will be activated this summer, with a focus on athletics, in particular the pillar event of the athletics calendar, the European Athletics Championships held in Barcelona from July 26 until August 1.
Engaging with Runners
On the innovative microsite, created by Eurosport to support the campaign, visitors can submit a photo that represents their idea of running, their key ‘Sound Mind, Sound Body’ moment - be it crossing the finish line, an exciting moment in a run, or a gesture of kindness or friendship between runners.
The photos will be exhibited on ASICS’ ‘Runner's Gallery’, and visitors will be able to vote for their favourite picture. All participants will have the chance to win a selection of top ASICS’ products.
ASICS’ partnership with Eurosport will be a highly beneficial cooperation as both companies share the same values and passions for true sport. ASICS is the market leader in performance running, so by communicating to Eurosport’s audience during its coverage of major marathons and athletics events, ASICS will be able to reach, and engage with, the brand’s key consumer - marathon runners all around the world.
