Statement from USOC CEO Scott Blackmun

The following statement is attributable to U.S. Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun:

"The XXI Olympic Winter Games will be remembered for the warm hospitality and generous hearts of our Canadian hosts. We heartily congratulate VANOC for a wonderful performance.

"We are very proud of the record setting efforts of our American athletes. The most medals ever won by the United States in the Olympic Winter Games, the most medals won by any nation in Vancouver and the most medals ever won by any nation in the Winter Games—there are no words to describe what a breakthrough performance this was. Team USA's success is a testament to the commitment of our athletes and to the excellence of the NGBs who support them. We are grateful to our sponsors and donors for providing the resources that allowed our athletes to achieve their dreams and inspire a nation.

"Finally, we congratulate Canada for the success of their 'Own the Podium' program. It's impact is obvious and we applaud them."
