ICC Board meets in Dubai on 10 and 11 February
Among the items for discussion include the provision of greater context for international cricket, Cricket Ireland’s intention to apply for Full Membership and outcomes from the ICC/MCC joint strategy session
The ICC Board will gather in Dubai on 10 and 11 February for the first of the four scheduled meetings it will hold this year.
Among the main items on the agenda are the following:
Context for International Cricket
With the Future Tours Programme post-2012 now agreed in principle, the Board will continue to consider ways in which greater context can be afforded to Test, ODI and Twenty20 International cricket outside major ICC events.
The Board will consider updates from the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee which has established a working group to look into this ongoing matter. The group comprises David Collier (England and Wales Cricket Board), David Richardson (ICC), Nishantha Ranatunga (Sri Lanka Cricket), N Srinivasan (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and James Sutherland (Cricket Australia).
This discussion will also incorporate general ways in which international cricket can be further promoted.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2011
The Board will receive an update on preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, which will take place in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
ICC Centenary
The Board will hear a final report on the ICC centenary celebrations which ran throughout 2009.
ICC Events
The Board will begin to consider the location and scheduling of ICC events after 2015 in the context of the newly agreed Future Tours Programme.
Membership of ICC
In light of Cricket Ireland’s expression of intent to apply for Full Membership of the ICC, the Board will hold a discussion on how to deal with that application and the Governance Review Committee’s consideration of current membership criteria.
CEC recommendations
The Board will hear a report from the latest ICC Chief Executives’ Committee meeting, receiving updates on such issues as the umpire decision review system, the composition of the ICC Cricket Committee and outcomes from the ICC/MCC joint strategy session.
Committee reports and task team updates
The Board will hear updates from a number of committees and task teams, including those charged with looking into the ways of supporting Pakistan and general security around international cricket.
