WADA to Hold Pre-Olympic and Paralympic Games Press Conference in Vancouver February 11

Montreal, February 8, 2010 - The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will hold its traditional pre-Olympic and Paralympic Games press conference on February 11 at the Vancouver Games’ Main Press Center.

The 2010 Vancouver Games will mark another opportunity for WADA to provide comprehensive anti-doping monitoring and educational resources at Olympic and Paralympic Games. The purpose of this press conference is to present WADA’s programs and activities at the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as to update journalists on advances in the fight against doping in sport.

WADA’s President John Fahey and Director General David Howman will be available to answer questions from the media. Also present will be Scott Burns, former White House Deputy Drug Czar and current Executive Director of the National District Attorneys Association of the United States, who will head the Independent Observer Team at the Olympic Games.

WADA has created a section of its Web site outlining the Agency’s role at the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

This section includes a special issue of WADA’s flagship magazine, Play True, in a new Web format, launched last November, which includes in particular video clips. The anti-doping rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for the Vancouver Games can also be found in this section of the Agency’s Web site.
