Cavs Better Halves Team Up with Domestic Violence Center for National Teen Dating Violence and Prevention Week February 1st - 6th
The first week in February has been designated "National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week"
The Domestic Violence Center (DVC) and the Cleveland Cavaliers Better Halves (the wives, girlfriends and significant others of players, coaches and staff) are teaming up to educate teenagers in Northeast Ohio about the severity of dating violence among teens. Since 2006, the first week in February has been designated "National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week." The week’s focus will promote the idea of RESPECT with several awareness-raising activities that will conclude at the Cavs vs. New York Knicks game on Saturday, February 6th for Domestic Violence Awareness Night at The Q.
National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week includes five events in just six days to raise awareness and funds for the Domestic Violence Center.
· Monday, February 1st - 87 West Wine Bar from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Join Cavaliers Head Coach Mike Brown and wife Carolyn for the kick-off of "RESPECT" Week at 87 West Wine Bar in Crocker Park (for adults only). Guests will enjoy an array of delicious appetizers as well as an outstanding selection of wine and beer (cash bar for all other alcoholic beverages). Bid on amazing auction items from the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers. Ticket price: $35
· Wednesday, February 3rd - Harrison's Furniture from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Experience how fashion and furniture meld into the hottest looks for 2010 at the "Haute Line" Event at Harrison's Furniture located in Westlake, OH! "Haute Line" will showcase high fashion and the latest trends in home furnishings. Clothing will be shown by Adesso, Knuth's, and Nicky-Nicole. The evening includes appetizers and wine and beer while learning from the experts in home furnishings and fashion industries! Proceeds from "Haute Line" benefit DVC's 24 Hour Emergency Hotline! · Thursday, February 4th - "Purple Power"
Northeast Ohio is encouraged to wear the purple to work and school Thursday to show support of this very important cause! Purple is the nationally recognized color for Domestic Violence Awareness. Strength is in numbers!
· Friday, February 5th - Nordstrom Teen Fashion Show - 5:30 p.m.

· Saturday, February 6th - RESPECT Night at The Q - 7:30 p.m. tipoff
When the Cavs face the New York Knicks at The Q Saturday evening, the arena will be lit up purple as each guest will receive a purple glow stick upon entering. The night will be committed to raising awareness about teen dating violence, capping off with a performance from the Scream Team to Aretha Franklin's RESPECT and teen leaders from the Cleveland area will be recognized at halftime!
