Drivers, Cars on Display for Bobcats Game Against Orlando
January 18, 2010 - Bobcats Sports & Entertainment (BSE) President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Whitfield announced today the lineup of activities and giveaways for the team’s fourth annual NASCAR Night on Saturday, January 23 at Time Warner Cable Arena. Highlighting the Bobcats game that evening against Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic will be the scheduled appearances by four-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson and other drivers including Michael Waltrip and Denny Hamlin, show cars on the arena concourse, and mini-coolers presented by Coca-Cola for the first 5,000 fans through the doors.
"NASCAR Night has become one of our best traditions, and something that we’re extraordinarily proud of,” said Whitfield. “With the help of NASCAR, its drivers and teams, and our partners who value the diversity of sports and entertainment options available here in Charlotte, we’re pleased to be able to present NASCAR Night the right way every year and bring the racing experience directly to our fans right here at Time Warner Cable Arena.”
The new class of drivers from the NASCAR Drive 4 Diversity Program will be on-hand to sign autographs as well as noted NASCAR artist Sam Bass and other authors for new books being released from the NASCAR Library Collection. In addition, fans will see the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship trophy on display along with different stops along the concourse featuring the NASCAR Hall of Fame, NASCAR Racing Experience, NASCAR Speedpark, and a play zone featuring games and toys from VTech, SCX Racing, K’NEX and Jada.
The theme of NASCAR Night will be integrated into the events of the night to include special race themed jerseys worn by the team, Lady Cats sporting outfits recognizing the 2009 Championship and in game activities including a Fathead Puzzle Game and a chance to win NASCAR licensed prize buckets and tickets to the 2010 Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup series race and 2010 NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge or the NASCAR Sprint All Star Race.
“Bringing NASCAR and the Bobcats together to celebrate two of the great professional sports in
Charlotte has been a tremendous event for our community,” said Paul Brooks, senior vice president of NASCAR and president of NASCAR Media Group. “This will be a night to celebrate with a great game against the Orlando Magic, with NASCAR superstars and the great fans in Charlotte.”
