University of Denver Holds No. 1 Ranking in USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll

The 15th annual USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men’s College Hockey Poll is conducted each week in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Denver holds the No. 1 ranking in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll. The Pioneers, who were idle last week, hold the top spot for the second straight week after accumulating 500 points and 24 of 34 first-place votes.

Miami University (483, 10 first-place votes) retains the No. 2 spot after twice defeating then-No. 7 Ferris State University, while the University of Wisconsin (420), which garnered a 1-1-0 record against then-No. 9 Colorado College, stays at No. 3. The University of Minnesota Duluth (361), which defeated Minnesota State University twice last weekend, jumps six spots to No. 4. Yale University (304), which lost to Harvard University and defeated Brown University, rounds out the top five.

The University of Massachusetts (58) returns to the top 15 after a two-week absence. The Minutemen garnered a 2-0-0 record against then-No. 14 University of Massachusetts Lowell last weekend.

Highlighting this upcoming weekend's games are six top-15 match-ups, including two games between No. 1 Denver and No. 3 Wisconsin in Madison, Wis.

NOTES: The Western Collegiate Hockey Association boasts six ranked programs. The Central Collegiate Hockey Association and ECAC Hockey have three ranked teams, while the Hockey East Association has two ranked programs. Bemidji State University is the only ranked College Hockey America team ... A total of 19 teams received votes.

The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the six NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
