Cowboys Shutout of Redskins Is Top Rated Program on Sunday Night

NEW YORK - Dec. 28, 2009 - Last night’s “NBC Sunday Night Football” was the No. 1 broadcast on Sunday night for the 14th time in 15 weeks with the Dallas Cowboys 17-0 win over the Washington Redskins.  With just one week remaining in the NFL season, “Sunday Night Football” has exceeded its total of Sunday night wins from 2008.  Last season, SNF won 13 of 16 Sunday nights after winning 11 of 16 in 2007 and nine of 16 in 2006.

Last night’s game drew an overnight rating of an 11.6 and a 19 share, 10 percent lower than last year’s Panthers-Giants overtime game in Week 16, but up 17 percent from the Week 16 game in 2007 (Redskins-Vikings, 9.9/17).

The rating peaked from 9-9:30 ET at a 12.6/21.

BENGALS VS. JETS IN SNF FLEX: The National Football League yesterday announced that the Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets was selected to move to “Sunday Night Football” on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 3, as part of the NFL’s flexible scheduling.

The Jets (8-7), coming off a 29-15 victory over the previously unbeaten Indianapolis Colts, have won four of their last five games and control their playoff fate as they host the Cincinnati Bengals (10-5), champions of the AFC North.

The Jets are vying for an AFC Wild Card playoff berth and will automatically claim one with a win. The Bengals are vying with the New England Patriots for the No. 3 seed in the AFC.
