With a full 9 months before WSDE opens its doors for business, Participating Buyers from 22 geographical territories have confirmed that will be sending senior delegations.
World Sport Destination Expo (WSDE) – the world’s first exhibition and conference dedicated to showcasing the $600 billion a year sport tourism industry – has secured the participation of the world’s leading tour operators and buyers.
With a full 9 months before WSDE opens its doors for business, Participating Buyers from 22 geographical territories have confirmed that will be sending senior delegations to the landmark 5 day event taking place alongside the final week of 2010 FIFA World Cup from 5-9 July in Johannesburg.
Key buyers will include the sport tour operators responsible for bringing an anticipated 450,000 sport tourists and considerable investment to South Africa for the FIFA World Cup. Each with multi-million procurement budgets and territorial dominance in their respective markets, the Participating Buyers will use WSDE to meet with the leading suppliers of sport tourism products as deals are done for 2011 and beyond.
With over 40 years experience, TUI-owned Thomson Sport is a world leader in sport tourism. Nathan Wilson, Managing Director, said: “We are looking forward to attending WSDE to conduct new business, to add to our growing portfolio and to forge new long-term business relationships with all the destinations exhibiting. This unique, ground breaking event will allow us to do this all under one roof”
Sion Rapson, Global Business Director of WSDE said: “To receive this sort of endorsement from the key buyers of sport tourism products and services has ratified our pledge to give the travel industry’s fastest growing sector the business event it has desperately needed and will ensure maximum ROI for our exhibitors.”
Lindiwe Mahlangu, CEO, Johannesburg 2010 FIFA World Cup Host City said: “WSDE will change the landscape of the sport tourism industry. By bringing together all the key buyers and suppliers of sport tourism products and services around the world, WSDE will overnight become one of the most important international events in the travel calendar and undoubtedly the sport tourism event of the decade.”
