Funeral service for VANOC Chairman Jack Poole October 27 at 2 pm
The Poole family has respectfully asked that media limit news coverage of the funeral to outside of the cathedral before and after the service.
VANCOUVER, Oct. 26 - Funeral services for Jack Poole, chairman of the board for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC), will be held on Tuesday, October 27 at 2 pm at Vancouver’s Christ Church Cathedral at 690 Burrard Street.
The Poole family has respectfully asked that media limit news coverage of the funeral to outside of the cathedral before and after the service, and that friends and family be able to arrive and depart without requests for interviews or comment.
The doors will close for the service, which is expected to last approximately one hour. Mr. Poole’s pallbearers and piper will leave the cathedral at approximately 3:15 pm. David Podmore, a longtime friend and business colleague, will meet with media to share a short statement from Mrs. Darlene Poole and his thoughts on Mr. Poole and the funeral service. This media availability will take place in the lawn area beside the cathedral just north of the main entrance on Burrard Street.
