U.S. Olympic Committee Board of Directors Supports Chairman Probst, Aims to Hire New CEO by End of Year

Probst and Board Commit to Process of Outreach and Engagement with Key Constituencies

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - The Board of Directors of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) voted as an overwhelming majority today in support of Chairman Larry Probst and Acting Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Streeter. As part of the Board meeting, which took place via conference call, the Board committed to the goal of having a new CEO in place by the end of the year.

With the support of the Board, Probst committed to an outreach and engagement process with key USOC constituencies, including the National Governing Bodies (NGBs), Athletes Advisory Committee (AAC), the Multi-Sport Organizations (MSOs), U.S. Olympians Association and Paralympic representatives, not just in the search for the new CEO, but as part of a review of the USOC’s governance structure.

The Board addressed the issues related to its governance structure and concluded that a thoughtful, deliberate and systematic review would be conducted in the near future.

“I am pleased to have such strong support from the USOC Board,” Probst said. “Over the coming months, our organization faces a number of key challenges, including selecting a new CEO. I am committed to working with all of our stakeholders as we address these critical issues. Having a new CEO on board by the end of the year will allow that individual to attend the Vancouver Games, providing an invaluable opportunity to make an immediate impact and collaborate directly with our partners at the Games.

“I believe that the decision to allow for in-depth and measured planning regarding the future direction of our organization is not only a wise one, but will allow us to have robust, collaborative discussions that will ultimately strengthen the USOC and the Olympic Movement in our country.”

All nine members of the USOC Board were in attendance on the call.
