Sports Travel: Strong Sponsor Support In Place For TEAMS 2009 Conference & Expo In New Orleans

Many first-time sponsors join multi-year partners in support of sports-event industry’s largest annual gathering

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 29, 2009) – The TEAMS 2009 Conference & Expo – the world’s largest gathering of sports-event organizers – to be held October 13-17 in New Orleans, is being supported by 38 sponsoring organizations.  Among the sponsors are some of the world’s leading hotel chains, industry-leading convention bureaus and sports commissions, and several key suppliers to the sports-event industry.

“The TEAMS sponsor partnerships are a tremendous source of support, not only for our conference but for the sports-event industry overall,” said Timothy Schneider, publisher of SportsTravel magazine, which organizes the TEAMS Conference & Expo.  “The support we receive from our sponsors—especially our multi-year sponsors—allow us to continuously improve the conference for the hundreds of other organizations that attend and exhibit at TEAMS.”

Multi-year sponsors of TEAMS make an ongoing commitment of a minimum of three years to the event and include (in alphabetical order): Beaumont CVB; Greater Louisville CVB; Miami-Dade Sports Commission; Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation; New Orleans Metropolitan CVB; Puerto Rico Convention Bureau; Ready-Set-Go PA Sports; Richmond Metropolitan CVB; Sacramento CVB; Show Me Missouri Sports; SMG Convention & Exposition Venues; Sports NC; Team Kentucky; Tempe CVB; Tucson CVB; Utah Sports Commission; Visit Charlotte and VisitPittsburgh.

Previous year returning sponsors of TEAMS include (in alphabetical order): Best Western International; Charleston, WV, CVB; Dallas Fort Worth Sports Alliance; Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex; Experience Colorado Springs; Memphis CVB; Oklahoma City CVB; Sports Illinois; Team Texas; The Hilton Family; Tourism Toronto; Virginia Beach Sports Marketing; Virginia Tourism Corporation; and Zambelli Fireworks.

“We are very pleased to be working with these organizations, some of which have been sponsoring TEAMS for nearly a decade, and we’re delighted to welcome the many new sponsors joining us for the first time at TEAMS 2009,” said Lisa Furfine, associate publisher of SportsTravel and manager of TEAMS.

According to Furfine, the TEAMS Conference has experienced an up-tick in new sponsors this year. First-time sponsors of the TEAMS Conference this year include (in alphabetical order): Arkansas Sports; Express Jet; Maryland Sports; Mobile View Screens; Motel 6; and Red Bull Air Race.

“We truly appreciate the support we receive from all of our sponsors,” said Furfine, “because it is only with their support that we’re able to provide all of our attendees a unique and productive experience at TEAMS.”

An exciting agenda is planned for TEAMS 2009, beginning on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 13 and culminating with Philanthropic Friday, featuring the Fifth Annual TEAMS Golf Tournament and a community service project during which TEAMS attendees will work to restore the Pontchartrain Park Sports Complex.

TEAMS was recently recognized for the fifth time as one of the “50 Fastest-Growing Trade Shows” by Tradeshow Week, the global exhibition industry news magazine.
