FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NSSA news and update
Some some important changes taking place at NSSA:
- As promised, a new, updated website is
in the pipeline. Our friends at PeersNet are providing us with a
cutting edge website that will feature online registration and
balloting, live chats and forums, the chance for members to edit their
own information and a whole lot more. Check out the mock-up site at: nssa.community.peersnet.com
. And feel free to provide feedback on some other things you’d like to
see on there. They have promised to work with us to get it just the
way we want;
- We are going to a Jan. 1st-Dec. 31st membership
cycle so everyone will be on the same schedule. That will simplify
bookkeeping and everyone will know when his/her membership is due for
renewal. In order to be fair to those who have renewed since September
1st, we will give you four free months of membership. We apologize to
the rest of you who renewed or joined before September 1st, but the
good news is, we are giving you and getting you more value for your
membership than you’ve had in the past. For sportscasters, we’ve
partnered with Sportscasters Talent Agency of America www.staatalent.com
. Those interested in using their services, will be able to give STAA
an NSSA member code and you’ll get a discount on those services. I
would like to find a similar deal for print/blog folks. If anyone
knows of one, please let me know.
- We have also started an NSSA
Honorary Board of Directors, featuring some of the biggest sports names
in the state of North Carolina (we are the hosts after all!). Already,
ACC Commissioner John Swofford, Carolina Hurricanes owner Peter
Karmanos and former Wake Forest/South Carolina/East Carolina head
basketball coach Dave Odom have said Yes.
- We are almost set to
move into our new offices in renovated warehouse at 325 North Lee
Street in Salisbury. Move-in day is scheduled for next Friday, October
2nd. I’ve been visiting the site daily to gauge progress and it’s
amazing what the various contractors can do in a short time span! I’ve
posted some “before” and “during” pictures on the NSSA website and NSSA
group on Facebook. Please take a look.
- Last night at our
Foundation Board meeting, the Board was kind enough to approve the
production of an NSSA video. We will produce a 5:00 piece telling the
NSSA story that will appear on our website. I will also take a DVD
copy of the story to show at my speaking engagements. If any of you
would like a copy to show at your speaking engagements or for a
potential sponsor (hint-hint), please let me know.
