Montezemolo and Capello Support Madrid 2016

Chairman of Ferrari & Fiat and manager of the England football team behind the Spanish bid.

Madrid, 25 September 2009 - The chairman of Ferrari and Fiat, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, and the current manager of the England football team, Fabio Capello, have both announced their support for Madrid’s bid to host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

 

Montezemolo, who participated in the recent “Forum Marca” with the Spanish Secretary of State for Sport Jaime Lissavetzsky and Mayor of Madrid Alberto Ruiz Gallardón, said that because of his great friendship with the mayor, having secured Spanish bank Santander as a sponsor and having had a Spanish test driver, Marc Gené, there was no question over his loyalty to and support of Madrid 2016.

 

Fabio Capello, who has previously managed football team Real Madrid two separate times, has also declared his support of Madrid’s bid to host the Games, commenting that it was the only choice for 2016.
