Women put their skills on display

XV AIBA World Championships

By way of a curtain-raiser for the finals of the XV AIBA World Championships at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan this afternoon, two women’s exhibition bouts took place before the main program.

Women’s boxing was recently added to the schedule for the London 2012 Olympic Games in three weight categories - flyweight, lightweight and middleweight.

Today’s bouts featured a lightweight (57kg) contest between Usha Nagisetty of India and Italy’s Marzia Davide, the twice European champion who easily defeated the twice World Championship silver medallist, 12-3.

The second contest was a middleweight match between veterans Li Jinzi of China and Anita Ducza of Hungary, who between them have 18 national titles. This time the Chinese champion came out on top in an entertaining bout.
