Football Family invited to nominate their legends
Football Federation Australia (FFA) continues to accept nominations for induction into the 2009 Football Hall of Fame - but nominations close soon.
FFA is encouraging the ‘football family’ to nominate players and non players who have made an outstanding and continued contribution to football for many years and who have helped advance the growth of football.
Successful inductees into the 2009 Football Hall of Fame will join the ranks of legends including past Socceroos captains Alex Tobin, Charlie Yankos, John Kosmina and Paul Wade - to name just a few. They, along with many others, have all helped to shape the face Australia’s football heritage.
The Football Hall of Fame is the game’s top recognition and provides an opportunity to honour football’s past by paying tribute to the greats, both men and women. There are two categories:
* the Hall of Champions to celebrate the legends of the sport on the field; and
* the Hall of Honour to recognise sustained, outstanding contribution off the field.
Nominating a candidate for the Hall of Champions or the Hall of Honour is simple and can be made online at http://www.footballhalloffame.com.au. Nominations close on 9 September 2009.
All nominations will be considered by the Football Hall of Fame Committee, comprising FFA Board members, media representatives and past players.
