FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPORTACCORD/GAISF DOPING-FREE SPORT UNIT LAUNCHED!
In collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
SportAccord announces the launch of its Doping-Free Sport Unit, operating from Lausanne at the Maison du Sport International, in collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
SportAccord has started to build a direct relationship with IFs Members whose anti-doping rules are not yet in line with the World Anti-Doping Code, in order to assist them in becoming compliant. As a second step, it will develop services to support them in implementing the Code, working also on economies of scale to propose lower implementation costs.
Driven by a strategic plan covering a five-year period, the programme is supervised by an Advisory Board composed of representatives from SportAccord, WADA and the IOC.
The Doping-Free Sport Unit is managed by Mrs Françoise DAGOURET, former Corporate Services Director of the International Archery Federation (FITA) and former WADA Project Manager. Thanks to this background, she has brought to SportAccord her extensive experience in the implementation of anti-doping activities. She declared “I am delighted to join the SportAccord team in Lausanne, and I look forward to this exciting and challenging mission. Thanks to the support of WADA and the IOC, synergies and cooperative approaches will be developed, thus reinforcing the strong commitment of all stakeholders to protect and promote doping-free sport values”. She is assisted by Anne SOULIÉ, coming from the IOC.
SportAccord works closely with the WADA Department of relations with International Federations to develop management and assistance tools in order to facilitate the work of its Members and to increase their efficiency in managing their anti-doping programme. The Doping-Free Sport Unit also wishes to act as a central point for Members by creating synergies between them.
From 2010 onwards, SportAccord will develop a wider range of services for its Members, such as whereabouts administration, therapeutic use exemptions administration and management, samples collection services, laboratory analysis or result management process. These services will be proposed at nominal cost, allowing saving on costs and administrative work.
SportAccord is an international organisation grouping together International Sports Federations and Organisations. Its mission is to unite, support and promote its 104 Member International Sports Federations and Organisations for the coordination and protection of their common aims and interests, communication and cooperation.
