Qantas Socceroos Head Coach adds 30-year old midfielder Danny Invincible to his squad for upcoming international friendly
Qantas Socceroos Head Coach, Pim Verbeek, added 30-year old midfielder Danny Invincible overnight to his squad for the upcoming international friendly match against the Republic of Ireland in Limerick on Wednesday 12 August 2009.
It is Invincible’s first call up to the Qantas Socceroos squad, although he has previously been a standby player on a number of occasions.
Brisbane born and bred, Invincible began his professional football career in 1997 with the Brisbane Strikers in the former National Soccer League before moving to the Marconi Stallions. Invincible moved overseas in 2000 to join Swindon Town in the English Second Division where he stayed for three seasons before moving north to Kilmarnock in Scotland where has been since 2003 making 169 appearances and scoring 17 goals.
The Qantas Socceroos trained in Portmarnock (Dublin) on Monday and travel to Limerick on Tuesday local time to finalise their preparations for the match which is broadcast live and exclusive on FOX Sports.
Wednesday’s match against the Republic of Ireland will be the first for the Qantas Socceroos since completing their Asian group qualifiers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in June, and is the first of seven matches over the next eight months.
