Madrid, 28 May 2009 - Mercedes Coghen, Madrid 2016 bid chief, has congratulated Barcelona on its spectacular win in the Champions League at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome last night. Josep Guardiola’s side beat the defending British team 2-0 in an exciting match which showed off the Spaniards’ expertise and passion on the pitch.
“Barcelona is playing extremely well and they are terrific exponents of the game of football which has a truly international following,” said Madrid 2016 bid chief Mercedes Coghen. “We congratulate them all for being brilliant ambassadors for sport, competing at the highest level and winning.”
