ORLANDO HUDSON AND JUAN PIERRE TO VISIT MLB’S URBAN YOUTH ACADEMY TOMORROW

Players will teach inner city youth about baseball and education as part of Hudson’s “Around the Mound” program

WHO:        Dodgers Orlando Hudson and Juan Pierre and the Los Angeles Angels’
Torii Hunter.

 

WHAT:           As part of Hudson’s “Around the Mound” tour, Hudson, Pierre, and Hunter will meet with approximately 125 inner city children for a chalk talk and interactive baseball tips. They will also discuss the importance of education in their lives as baseball players and opportunities for African-Americans in Major League Baseball.

MISC:            This season, Hudson will visit inner city youth in ten cities around the country as part of his “Around the Mound” tour. Hudson also established the non-profit foundation C.A.T.C.H. (Curing Autism Through Change and Hope) in 2008 to enable children with autism to enjoy a normal life through the funding of outlets for proper therapy, education, and extracurricular activities. 

 Pierre’s personal community initiative, “Pierre’s Pack,” is now it its third season. The outfielder hosts kids from inner city after-school programs at several games throughout the season. He last visited the Urban Youth Academy for a clinic in 2007 with several former Dodgers.
