London 2012 appoint McCann Worldgroup as marketing services agency

McCann Worldgroup has been appointed as its Official Marketing Services Provider, in a Tier Three deal

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and ParalympicGames (LOCOG) today confirm that McCann Worldgroup has been appointedas its Official Marketing Services Provider, in a Tier Three deal. Ledby McCann London the agency will work with the marketing team at LOCOGfor the next three years and their scope of work will includedeveloping the overall look and feel of the Games.

McCann Worldgroup become London 2012’s eighth Tier Three Provider andits 18th domestic commercial partner overall. This is the first timethat marketing services has become a sponsorship category for anorganising committee. The range of the contract includes advertising(including TV, press, radio, outdoor, online, and mobile), directmarketing and digital marketing. The contract is effective immediatelyand is the result of a tending process run by LOCOG with support byAAR throughout.

London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe commented, “This is an extremelysignificant appointment as the agency will have a huge role in how theGames are not only perceived in 2012, but also how they’ll beremembered in years to come.
