U.S. Olympic Committee Board of Directors Finalizes Process and Timeline for Chief Executive Officer Search
The search will be overseen by a subcommittee of the USOC Board of Directors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Board of Directors convened today via conference call to finalize the process and timeline by which the organization will select its next Chief Executive Officer.
During the Fourth Quarter of 2009, the USOC will initiate a national search to identify its next Chief Executive Officer. The search will be overseen by a subcommittee of the USOC Board of Directors, which will be appointed by USOC Chair Larry Probst. The subcommittee will be responsible for bringing forward a final slate of candidates for review and consideration by the full USOC Board of Directors. A nationally respected executive search firm will be retained to assist with the search.
Stephanie Streeter, who was asked last month by the USOC Board of Directors to serve as Acting Chief Executive Officer, will continue in that role at least through the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games and until the search is complete. Streeter, who will soon relocate to the organization’s headquarters in Colorado Springs, has the option of being considered for the CEO position.
“We are extremely pleased with Stephanie’s leadership of the organization,” said Probst. “Stephanie stepped in during a challenging time for the USOC and has made an immediate and positive impact that is already strengthening our organization. She has the full authority to direct the day-to-day operations of the USOC and the full support of the Board of Directors in doing so.”
The Board of Directors also formally accepted Streeter’s resignation as a member of the Board, as well as the USOC committees on which she previously served. The Nominating and Governance Committee will select an Independent Director to replace Streeter on the Board of Directors.
In addition, the Board of Directors received updates on Chicago 2016, the status of the U.S. Headquarters project and related developments in Colorado Springs, and the U.S. Olympic Network.
