Canadian Olympic Team to Hold 2010 “Media Summit” In May
Opportunity to meet and interview some of Canada’s top winter athletes who are preparing for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games
TORONTO, April 2, 2009 – On Monday, May 4, 2009, the Canadian Olympic Team will hold a Media Summit to give the media an opportunity to meet and interview some of Canada’s top winter athletes who are preparing for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. The event will take place at the Renaissance Hotel in Vancouver following the Canadian Olympic Team’s Olympic Excellence Series.
Close to 100 Canadian athletes will be available in the form of press conferences, media scrums and one-on-one opportunities as details are provided on team and individual goals, preparations and planning for Vancouver 2010. A complete list of attending athletes will be made available on April 20.
The Summit will be held in conjunction with the second session of the Olympic Excellence Series in preparation for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, which will take place May 1-3. The Olympic Excellence Series is designed to provide athletes, coaches and their support team with the practical skills and strategies necessary to help them achieve podium success in Vancouver.
Members of the media wishing to attend the Canadian Olympic Team’s 2010 Media Summit are asked to complete and return the attached accreditation form prior to April 27.
Media will also have the opportunity to obtain limited access to the Olympic Excellence Series’ opening reception on Friday, May 1. Media can attend part of the athletes’ registration (4-6 p.m.) and opening remarks made by Canada’s Chef de Mission Nathalie Lambert, which take place at 8 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel.
